Welcome To Duchy Square Centre for Creativity, Princetown - Dartmoor's Exciting Arts and Crafts Attraction. Galleries, Workshops, Artists at Work, Fully Stocked Shop - Something for Everyone!
Doris Smith Rolli

Currently in the main Gallery is an exhibition of textiles by the various artists here at Duchy Square who specialise in textile art.

Duchy Square Centre for Creativity is open daily 10 - 5 seven days a week.

This exhibition is designed to illustrate the skills of the textile practioner, the variety of practical and decorative uses for their craft. Duchy Square is becoming a hub for all things textiles with the intriduction of Textile Friday - this is held on the last Friday of each month. These sessions are being co-ordinated by textile designer Jane Deane, a resident creative practitioner at the centre, who makes a variety of textile products in her own studio at Duchy Square.“The feedback I have had has been tremendous and so far the sessions have been a great success. It is a great way for us enthusiasts to not only share ideas and best practice, but also give those people interested in working with textiles some valuable advice.”

The contriibuting artists for this show include: Jill Morris, Mary Toon, Jaqueline Welby, Jane Deane, Hannah Parsons Irankunda, Doris Smith Rolli,Tessa Clarke, Lucie Ponsford, Karen Salvage,Jennie Peach, Adriana Forbes and Steph Norgaard. Furniture made by Dartmoor Joinery, Katie Lake aka 'Mistress Metal' and Fairway Furniture.

The artists and creative practitioners take part in workshops organised by the centre, but also stage their own sessions with smaller groups in their own studios. Anyone wishing to find out more about all the workshops on offer should telephone the centre on (01822) 890828 or visit the website www.duchysquare.org where contact details for all the artists can be found.
